The Good Grounding project offers bespoke sessions tailored to your school’s requirements and as such is particularly suited to those schools that need to participate in regular farm visits as part of their Food for Life award. As part of the project we offer food tasting, growing and harvesting and an opportunity to see how a farm changes with the different seasons, from Christmas Turkeys to spring lambs, summer raspberries to autumn vegetables and all stages in between.
Charnock
mmm sausages!
Just before half term week we had a visit from Charnock primary school. They were tasting our Whirlow sausages and learning about which animal they come from. We planted onions and garlic for cooking with next spring and the children took back potatoes for tea and thyme to grow at home.
We also had a look at all the animals on the farm and saw what was growing in the fields in October. We were fortunate enough to visit the new arrivals on the farm -the turkeys and two sets of new born piglets!
Look forward to seeing you next March for lambing Charnock!
